My Approach
My Approach
A safe and supportive connection is paramount to exploring an emotional experience together. While clinical approach is necessary to consider in determining goodness of fit between an individual and therapist, the therapeutic relationship is also highly valued.
My approach is collaborative, warm, and non-judgmental.
In order to tailor treatment to meet individual needs, I draw from a variety of clinical approaches including behaviorally-based treatment models and insight-oriented theories.
The bio-social model understands emotional response by examining the intersection of biological predisposition with environment. Rooted in this theory, Dialectical Behavior Therapy is a behaviorally-based treatment approach targeting emotion regulation through effective skill use.
Cognitive-Behavioral theory examines and challenges ineffective thoughts patterns that guide behavior and impact emotional states.
Psychodynamic theory is an insight-oriented process used to identify conscious and unconscious patterns that contribute to feelings and behaviors.
